The Trading Post prides itself on its variety of hot sauces. To the British palate, the relative lack of spice in French cuisine can seem somewhat odd, particularly as French food is (quite rightly) heralded around the world. As a main distributor of British and International foodstuffs in France, the Trading Post has an impressive selection of international hot sauces from different regions, allowing you the right type of spice for every meal. Here are a few of our favourite fiery condiments to add heat to your home-cooking…
Peri Peri sauces are a relative newcomer to the British, but one that has proven to be incredibly popular. Peri peri derives from bird’s eye chillies and is a well-known chilli condiment throughout Portuguese-speaking areas. With the arrival of Nando’s restaurants, the UK was introduced to the joy of simple, spicy, but ultimately flavourful chicken dishes. With a decent selection of Nando’s sauces, Perinaise and even Bag & Bakes (to easily spice and cook your chicken), The Trading Post has your Peri Peri fix on lock.
If you like your heat Thai-style, we have Sriracha hot sauce. Hot, sweet and sour, this hot sauce is made from fermented red chillis for eye-watering heat with fragrant flavour. Also from South Asia, The Trading Post stocks sweet chilli sauces, providing even more sweetness and the perfect dipping accompaniment to all manner of fantastic finger food: skewered chicken, gyoza, dim sum, spring rolls, prawn toasts, sushi… you name it, sweet chilli sauce makes it twice as excellent.
The Trading Post is famous for its wide selection of Indian foods and there is clearly plenty of spice that one can enjoy in Indian cuisine. Whilst not strictly sauces, lime pickles, hot mango chutneys and super-hot mixed pickles can be used as incredible condiments for sandwiches and kebabs, as well as complimentary accompaniments to curries, rice dishes and buffets.
With Levi Roots’ jerk marinades from the West Indies, Frank's hot sauces and Tabasco from the USA, and harissa from Tunisia, the list of available hot sauces just seems to get longer.
Last, but definitely not least, we have Encona hot sauces. These are inspired by many different flavours of the Americas (such as Louisiana Cajun and Jamaican Jerk BBQ). The stand-out performer has to be the Carolina Reaper sauce: made with the World-record-holding hottest chilli pepper, this sauce is definitely for the true heat aficionados. Maybe start with the Hot Pepper Sauce and work your way up…
