The Trading Post

A Brief History of The Trading Post

The Trading Post started out in 2006, providing British products to expats, ski chalets and local companies in the French Alps. Through ensuring reliable deliveries and a personal service, the business developed rapidly. We began stocking more lines, expanded our distribution network and soon became the largest supplier of British groceries in France, sending vans all over the country to restaurants, pubs, bars and individual customers.

As our warehouse grew and our fleet of temperature-controlled vans increased in number, we were able to offer direct delivery to other European countries. This led to further development of our catalogue as we brought in more international products for different customers. Simultaneously, the wide range and ease of delivery that we offered brought more individual and trade customers.

This increased demand led to two key developments. Firstly, a comprehensive website was created to ensure customers could browse our stock, check current availability and order online. Secondly an (ever-expanding) network of pick-up points has been established throughout France, allowing our customers regular, local collection of their orders whilst removing the need for prohibitive delivery costs. This has allowed us to provide free delivery for all orders, regardless of size, whilst still allowing us to provide the same level of customer service we have since the beginning.

Still family-owned, we now stock thousands of lines from well-known brands in our recently constructed purpose-built warehouse in Landry, between Bourg Saint Maurice and Aime in the heart of the French Alps. In addition to great British favourites, we supply everything from specific (and sometimes difficult to source) international ingredients to kitchen basics. By offering various delivery options (by courier, by van and to our designated collection points) we can send ambient, chilled and frozen goods across Europe, ensuring everyone can has access to essential and luxury products year-round.
