Heinz Baked Beans with Richmond Sausages: a super-combo

Heinz Baked Beans with Richmond Sausages: a super-combo

History is full of spectacular combinations that have allowed their individual component parts to transcend and create wonderful art, timeless music and other incredible achievements. You might be thinking Andy Warhol, Nico & The Velvet Underground… maybe Damian Hirst and Alexander McQueen… George Michael & Elton John… or from the world of sport Michael Jordan & Nike… Now two of the biggest names in cooked breakfasts have come together to create Heinz Beanz with Richmond Sausages.

This is a veritable one-stop, breakfast-in-a-can, that combines two undoubted icons of British cuisine: Heinz Baked Beans and Richmond Irish Pork Sausages. Heinz’s director of meals and infant UK, Alessandra de Dreuille, has explained that they decided to “permanently upgrade” their Heinz Baked Beans with Sausages by partnering with Richmond, a brand “with over 100 years of expertise” that represent “a natural choice” for collaboration. Similarly, Chris Roe, representing Richmond Sausages, considers this to be an “exciting evolution” between two well-matched “heritage brands.”

At The Trading Post we have been selling Heinz Baked Beans and, separately, Richmond Sausages, for a number of years. It was therefore a simple decision to import this super-combo into France for our customers far and wide. Since the tins have arrived in the warehouse, our staff have (very diligently) been testing the beans and sausages. Sometimes on toast. Sometimes as part of a full cooked breakfast with back bacon and eggs. Suffice to say, initial reports are very favourable, with people enjoying the convenience of the single-can breakfast solution, as well as the taste.

In addition to being a quick breakfast, lunch or brunch option, discussions in our office have elucidated how tinned sausages with baked beans are a valued addition to any camping expedition. Easy to cook on a camping stove or, for the camper/caravanner who benefits from electric hook-up, super-easy to heat in a slow cooker, these are a convenient meal that can be easily elaborated with fresh bread, a bag of salad or a couple of eggs. Furthermore, one of our more intrepid colleagues decribed how he decants the tin into zip-lock-type bags for weight-saving when hiking...

Heinz apparently made it their “mission to elevate [their] sausage portfolio” and this alliance of two breakfasting superpowers has certainly gone some way to fulfilling that stated aim. If you are as excited by this Heinz/Richmond mash-up as we are, why don’t you order a few cans for your larder today?
