Product Description

The aperitif which prepares your palate for an Indian feast, poppadoms (or papadums or poppadums, or pappadums, or papadams…) may be inconsistently-spelled but are a consistent part of the time-houred ritual of 'going for a curry.' Made from lentil flour, poppadoms are the perfect vector for sweet mango chutney, cooling raita and hot lime, garlic or aubergine pickles. Get your taste buds going before you dive into a curry.

Storage

For best before see side of pack. Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use immediately.

Cooking Instructions

Deep Fry
Heat 3cm of vegetable oil in a frying pan, or use a deep fat fryer set to 180-200°C. Test the oil temperature by adding a small piece of pappadum. When it bubbles and expands the oil is ready.
Fry each pappadum individually for 3 Seconds. They will expand quickly. Use tongs to flip and then remove from the hot oil. Leave to drain on kitchen paper. The pappadums will become crisp on cooling. Serve warm.

Microwave
Full Power 800W 30 Secs

Brush both sides of a pappadum with a little vegetable oil. Place a single pappadum in the microwave and cover with kitchen paper.
Cook on full power for around 30 seconds or until expanded. Timings will vary depending on microwave wattage. Serve warm.

Dip into our chutneys and pickles for a perfect match.
Pop them on the side of your favourite curry.
