Oatcakes!

Oatcakes!

David Cameron purportedly once said that oatcakes are his favourite kind of cake. That may well be the saddest, or at least most boring, answer to a question about cakes ever, but it does intimate that oatcakes are good. And oatcakes ARE good. They work with savoury things AND sweet things. They’re a Swiss-army knife of a biscuit if, indeed, you can call them a biscuit…

Are they cakes? Are they biscuits? Are they crackers? Are they Scottish bread? Are they stotties? Is a stottie/stotty even a thing, and what is the singular of stotties? Perfect with cheese, jam, cream, fruits, eggs and vegetables, they defy being pigeonholed. They claim the Sartorial right to existentialist self-determinism, knowing that their character is always chosen and not objectively defined.

So what can we say with any certainty about the four types of Nairn's Scottish oatcakes available on our website? Firstly, they are great and secondly, the price has been reduced. These are two perfectly good reasons to buy, top, eat and repeat. Accept the mystery, enjoy your oatcakes.
