Product Description

First formulated in 1837, Alfred Bird designed an egg-free, powdered custard to cater for his wife's allergies. Nowadays, Bird's powdered custard is considered 'the real custard' in many countries. It's delicious, easy to store and easy to make (just add milk and heat).

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place. Once made up, store in a refrigerator and treat as fresh food. For Best Before End see lid or base of pack.

Preparation and Usage

  • All You Need
  • - Saucepan
  • - Measuring Jug
  • - 1 Pint (568ml) of Milk
  • - 2 Tbsp (35g) of Sugar
  • - Whisk/Fork
  • - Large Bowl (at least 2L)
  • On the Hob
  • Mix 2tbsp (35g) of custard powder with 2 tbsp (35g) of sugar in a saucepan.
  • Measure 1 pint (568ml) of cold milk, add a little of it (approx. 2 tbsp) to the pan and stir to form a smooth paste.
  • Stir in the remainder of the milk.
  • Heat, Stirring continuously, until gently boiling.
  • Microwave 800W, Cat E
  • Mix 2tbsp (35g) of custard powder with 2 tbsp (35g) of sugar in a large bowl (at least 2L).
  • Measure 1 pint (568ml) of cold milk, add a little of it (approx. 2 tbsp) to the bowl and stir with a fork to form a smooth paste.
  • Stir in the remainder of the milk.
  • Heat on full power for 6 minutes, whisking/stirring half way through and again at the end.
