Not made with wine, Wine Gums are fruit flavour firm gummy sweets with the names of different types of wine embossed upon them. This apparently seemed like a good idea once upon a time. Indeed, the Maynard family originally marketed them as an preferable alternative to alcohol. These cartons of wine gums are exactly the sort of thing you pop into a Christmas stocking to distend it in an amusing and intriguing way. Also great on a coffee table or as an accompaniment to Christmas film-watching, perhaps when you're home alone.... eh?
