Preparation and Usage

  • Gravy: Blend one tablespoonful of Cornflour into about two meat juices, mix until smooth. Stir in half a pint of Stock, bring to the boil, allow to simmer for one minute, stirring all the time. Season to taste.
  • To thicken soups, stews, casseroles and similar dishes:
  • Use one tablespoonful of Cornflour to each half pint of liquid used in recipe. Blend the Cornflour with a little cold water to a thin cream. Stir into soup, stew, or casserole. Simmer for three minutes.
  • White Sauce: Melt 28g butter, remove from heat, blend in 21g of Cornflour. Stir in half a pint of milk. Bring to the boil and simmer for one minute, stirring all the time. Season to taste.
