Croft Original Sherry (17.5%)

(Code: WINESHERRCROFTOR)

Product Description

  • The first Croft sherry bodega was established in 1678, during the rule of Charles II, and the company is still exporting fine sherry from Jerez nearly 350 years later. Croft is a fino sherry, the driest and palest variety, aged for four years (one in American oak barrels) to ensure a complex delicate flavour with a clean, crisp finish. Perfect as an aperitif or digestif, it is almost impossible to watch an episode of Frasier without a glass.

Vinification Details

  • Croft is produced from the first press of the continuous press. Following fermentation to between 11% and 12% alcohol the wine is fortified to 15.5% alcohol and then enters the Croft solera. Due to the 15.5% alcohol and the unique temperature and humidity in the Jerez cellars a layer of yeast known as the 'flor' forms on the surface of the wine. This flor is the most important influence on the wine as it protects it from oxygen and gives it a particularly unique aroma and character.
